(Johannesburg, SoloAzar Exclusive).- SoloAzar interviewed Rodolfo González, Worldwide Import USA General Director, during the second edition of ICE Africa.

Worldwide Import USA had a successful performance at ICE Africa

Worldwide Import USA has its main headquarters in Miami, United Stated, but it has presence in Central America and the Caribbean Islands. In order to attend the markets in South America and the West Indies, it also has offices and stores in Bogota, Colombia.

"Our company participates in almost all the areas; we purchase the machines, we import them, we take them to the countries mentioned before, so we are buyers and we are also sellers and we commercialize them. We sell some of the machines, and we reserve the sales right for others; we place them on a participation basis on different casinos in the mentioned countries."

"This is our first year at ICE Africa, because we have been attracted by the African market, which is just beginning. We have realized that they operate with old machines, but the continent has a big potential and we are studying it," he added.

After that, he made an evaluation about the participation of the firm at the show: "We have had a positive performance; people are very interested in the product. Yesterday I knew that it was the second edition; I have talked to several colleagues who say that the current show has been bigger and more developed. However, I believe that the organizing firm should do more activities for the public, because I think there is a wide field to operate in those countries, specially in this show."

When consulted about the current situation of the South African market, he said: "It is a very reduced market but it has a great potencial, and it was the fact that made us come here. Although I think South Africa is the most developed country in Africa, there are other countries with a great potential."

With regard to the challenges that the firm has to face in order to operate in the region, he affirmed: "First of all, I consider that the first challenge for us is to adapt to their culture. There are different cultures, and different ways to socialize. I think it is the first challenge. Once we understand that, we -or any other organization-will succeed in this country."

González had the chance to visit a casino close to the convention center where the show was organized, and he saw that there are many old-fashioned machines. Regarding the average player profile, he added: "It is not the average player we see on the Western countries. I think that, as in all parts of the world, online betting is a trend, but here it is not developed yet. The average player here is a middle-aged bettor, and products are not innovative. As we operate in the Caribbean Islands, we have compared that culture with the African culture, which is very similar. That´s why we came here. Trinidad and Tobago, for example, is very similar to Johannesburg."

Worldwide Import USA has participated in ICE London and Juegos Miami, and it will soon assist to G2E Las Vegas.
